Impossible Mission II (Novotrade, Epyx, 1988)

For the sequel, Epyx turned to the Hungarian programming team at Novotrade, rather than calling back Dennis Caswell, who was not at all involved. Nothing from the original code was recycled: everything was recreated from scratch: new engine, new sprites, although identical in animations, and so on.

Creating a sequel to a legendary game was not an easy task, but by focusing on a mix of conservation and innovation, the goal was achieved. Strangely, especially nowadays not everyone agrees on the value of the sequel, which objectively lacks the innovative charge of the first game, for obvious reasons of chronological priority.

But considering the increased complexity of the gameplay, the many new features, such as bombs, mines, dark rooms, etc., one cannot but applaud Novotrade's work.
